#FF Prompt: Colony

Write about a colony on another planet or in space. Bonus points for building in the theme of the classical elements (earth, wind, fire, water) and/or for approaching it from the perspective of an alien species.

500-1,000 words
Deadline: 2pm on Friday 10th August 2018

    1. This is a really interesting take on both the prompt and my musing about orangutan fiction.😀 I think that there is a lot of mileage here, and I like the diversity stuff that you’ve woven in too. One of the things that I like about orangutans is that they have a sense of humour and are sometimes Mischievous. I’ve heard the difference between our great ape cousins described thus: give them a camera and a chimp will smash it on a rock, a gorilla will study it and hand it back, and an orangutan will carefully take it to pieces and give you the pieces back one by one…

  1. OK three excellent stories. I liked your reveal David; just the sort of twist I like to use. Debs you may not have had inspiration yesterday, but you came up with a winner. I could almost hear echoes of John Wyndham there. Stu’s I’ve commented on on his blog, but yes we need more of Orang-utans in Space in fact more Orang-utans period. If I hadn’t been so busy catching up after being away at the Dorothy L Sayers Convention over the weekend I might have lobbed one of my own in. Maybe I’ll send one to Tortoise (eventually).

    Alan.
